Man wearing a Carhartt WIP Chase t-shirt in black

Carhartt WIP is one of the most popular streetwear labels we stock — and its relaxed cut leaves a lot of people unsure which size to order. This guide covers how Carhartt WIP fits, a full chest-measurement size chart, and how to choose your size.

How does Carhartt WIP fit?

The simple answer: order your usual size. Carhartt WIP is best taken true to size — the cut is deliberately relaxed and slightly boxy, a nod to the brand's workwear heritage and made for easy layering, so it wears a touch roomier than a slim-fit label. Prefer a sharper, slimmer look? Size down. Want a baggier, oversized streetwear feel? Size up.

Carhartt WIP size chart

Approximate to-fit chest measurements for Carhartt WIP tops:

Size Chest (inches) Chest (cm)
S 35–37" 89–94 cm
M 38–40" 97–102 cm
L 41–43" 104–109 cm
XL 44–46" 112–117 cm
XXL 47–49" 119–124 cm
XXXL 50–52" 127–132 cm

Measurements are approximate to-fit chest sizes and can vary across styles. Always check the size guide on each product page for that item's exact measurements.

How to measure your chest

Wrap a tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, under the arms and across the shoulder blades. Keep it level and snug — not tight — then match the result to the chart above.

Fit by product type

  • T-shirts (Chase, Pocket, Script) — true to size with a loose, boxy cut. Size down for a slimmer fit.
  • Sweatshirts & hoodies — relaxed, regular fit; true to size. Size up if you want a baggier look.
  • Jackets & overshirts — cut to layer over a hoodie, so order your usual size.
  • Pants & cargos (Single Knee, Regular Cargo, Aviation) — sized by waist (W), with a loose, mostly straight leg and mid rise. Order your true waist.

Is Carhartt WIP sized like the original Carhartt?

Worth knowing: everything we stock is Carhartt WIP (Work In Progress), the European street and fashion line — every fit above refers to Carhartt WIP. It's a separate label from the original Carhartt, the US workwear brand, which runs bigger and heavier still. For the full breakdown, read our Carhartt WIP vs Carhartt guide.
